ADVICES FOOR KIDS SKATES

Inline skates are a great way to develop a child's athletic abilities with fun.
With inline skates, children can have fun alone, with friends and family, and be active at the same time.
The following compiled information gives an overview of what to look out for when buying inline skates for children.

THE RIGHT SIZE & FIT

As with any inline skate, the right fit should be the most important purchase criterion for children's skates. While skating, you push yourself of the ground to get forward, there is no rolling motion of the foot like when running or walking. Therefore it is important that the inline skates for children fit as accurately as possible.

PLEASE NOTE:
The foot should be enclosed as compactly as possible.
Neither to the side nor to the front or back is extra space necessary.
The skate should still be comfortable.

MEASURE & USE SIZE CHARTS

In our fit guide you can find out how to measure your feet best. Please note that the different brands have different fits. It is best to use the size tables, which are shown in the item pictures of the individual skate models.

Many parents know the problem, the kids grow really fast and shoes and clothes can sometimes only be worn for a few weeks. Nevertheless, the mistake of buying inline skates too big should not be made. This only increases the risk of injury and the kids have less fun skating. In addition, chafing and blisters appear more quickly and the skate will get damaged faster.

OUR TIP:
SIZE ADJUSTABLE INLINE SKATES FOR CHILDREN

Many skates for children offer an size adjustment possibility over several sizes, so in some cases the skates can be worn for several years.

Adjustment is usually made via a push button attached to the inline skate. This unlocks the adjustment mechanism and the skate can be extended to the desired size.

WHEEL SIZES FOR KIDS SKATES

The wheel size is a decisive factor when it comes to rolling behaviour, stability and overall driving pleasure.

We recommend the following information as a rough guide:

Beginner = 72mm-80mm diameter
Advanced = up to 84mm diameter
Professionals = 90mm diameter and upwards

Of course, not all kids are the same, so this information should be seen more as a rough guide.

In general, smaller wheels are easier to skate because, the stand height is lower and, the skates are not as fast. Therefore smaller wheels are more suitable for learning to skate.

Larger wheels are faster and offer more smoothness and roll, but also build up higher, so the centre of gravity on the skates is higher and it becomes more tippy. This requires more practice and larger wheels are therefore more recommended for advanced skaters.

PROTECTION FOR KINDS

With all the fun you can have while skating, safety should come first. It is important to wear suitable and CE approved protectors when skating. Children usually do not have a proper sense of whether a helmet or protectors fit properly. Therefore, it is especially important that parents take a close look.

In our Category Child Protectors we explain how helmets and protectors for children must fit properly.
